I bought a second-hand transponder
Your transponder shows the previous owner's name in the rankings? That's normal: the name comes from the transponder, registered to their account at the time of sale. Here's how to get your laps under your name. Two steps, in this order.
1 Ask your committee to link the transponder
Your club's committee has a "Link" button in its admin. In one click, it connects your transponder and all its lap history to your profile. Your laps go under your name right away, no waiting.
Just let your committee know, with your name and your transponder number. That's the fastest route.
2 Transfer the transponder's registration
The transponder stays registered to the previous owner's MyLaps account. That's why their name keeps showing up at timing. To make it clean everywhere and for good, transfer it to your account:
- If the previous owner gives you their MyLaps login: sign in and change the account name. Free and instant.
- If they don't reply or refuse: contact MyLaps support with your proof of purchase (invoice or bill of sale) and the transponder number. They transfer the transponder to your account. Transfer fees may apply.
Details and contact in the official help: register a second-hand transponder (MyLaps).
Once step 1 is done, you're already good on the club site. Step 2 is the cleanup at the source, useful but not urgent.
